I attended a Performing Arts School when I was in Middle School , which was a wonderful experience for me. I participated in drama, musical theatre, dance, chorus during normal school hours and then after school I was enrolled in a Dance Academy where I took ballet, tap, lyrical, jazz, irish, ballroom and hip-hop. During those years there I was in the school Broadway Production "Footloose" and "Annie Jr" where I had acting and dancing roles. These performances were sold out every night for over a week and it was alot of hard work and worth every second of it!
In Dec 2004, I was in a very serious horse back riding accident that shattered my right ankle and right leg. After extensive surgery and 4+ months in a wheelchair (at all times)- I now have 4 screws in my ankle and a 5"plate held with 8 screws in my right leg. This will be with me forever. The Dr's weren't very positive about the long range outcome of this accident and actually told me that I would not dance again. Well, they don't know me very well! Needless to say, I am dancing and I am still riding.
In my high school years I transferred over to a regular public school where I became involved in the High School Dance Team. I was a member of that team for 3 years. I auditioned and made the UDA All Star Dance Team for the US in 2006 & 2007 and traveled to Paris, France both years where I performed with The All Stars. We performed in Chantilly, France on News Years Eve and in front of the Eiffel Tower on New Years Day for their annual World of Entertainment. That was truly an exciting experience as a tourist and as a dancer. I also was involved with chorus, dance class, and drama at my high school. I am now a dance student at Jayde Howard's Dance Legacy where I take Lyrical,Tap,Ballet, Jazz Funk and Jazz. I am also a member of a 4 girl competition troupe, and also compete in solo competitions. I have competed at Tremaine, Dynamite, Showstoppers, DTI and Creations Competitions in 2007/2008/2009. Attended and performed at 2009 Tremaine National Competition.
In March 2008 I have had the wonderful opportunity to be an active participant and Dance Category Winner Week 8 on BigShotLive Season One. I was flown out to LA where I got to meet with and dance with Larisa Bates and Artem C from SYTYCD - TV show. While there I took a couple of classes at The Edge and got established there for another return.
I left for Hollywood on July 2008 - where I attended The Edge Performing Arts Center Career Intensive Weekend. Wow - was that incredible! Met so many nice people and learned alot about the "biz". I stayed out in Hollywood an additional 12 days and took classes from:
Doug Caldwell, Bobby Newberry, Sonya Tayeh, Alex Magno, Dante7, Malaya, Tabitha & Napoleon, Steven Butler, Blake McGrath, and Leslie Scott! Definately worked my butt off and learned so many new things. I can't wait to get back to The Edge come Winter Break/Spring Break and definately going back next summer for a month. I also had the pleasure of going over to 3rd Street Dance and met with Larisa Bates - whom I met with BigShotLive on Season 1 and spend some time with her on a personal level. They were filming So You Think You Can Dance while I was there and Joshua and Katie were working on their latest routine. July was jammed packed with new adventures and I can't wait to see what the future holds!
08-09 Dance Season was powerful. Our dance troupe qualified for Tremaine Dance Nationals and we will be attending in July 09. After that I plan on returning to LA - to take classes at The Edge, Tremaine and 3rd Street Dance before heading back to college the end of August.
2009-2010 returned to college and will have my AA in Liberal Arts come Fall 2010. Also in studio working on improving my technique and will be performing a contemporary solo this dance season. My goal is to complete my AA on schedule and to continue to improve my dance abilities and see what opportunities I am blessed with. I will be continuing my college education Jan 2011 for my BA degree.
When I am not at school or in the dance studio - then I am riding my horses or just chillin with friends. I have a wicked sense of humor and I am very driven and determined.
Thanks for letting me share a little bit of me - with you!
